Frozen Birthday Numbers !!!!!

Once again it is time to do the Birthday Towels for my friends three Granddaughters. There was one stipulation, that there was no yellow.   I think I managed that.   I loved the way they turned out and I am sure the girls will too. I found the Frozen Numbers Embroideryland and as there was no Number 10 and Olya  did one for me without hesitation..   Awesome service.

Cushions from Mystery Blocks......

Every couple of weeks we have a mystery day at our Patchwork Group.  We had to take 16 x  4 inch squares.    I decided to make cushions from my finished squares.

It was a very interesting idea  and the blocks could be put together in whatever pattern that you liked.
We cut the corner out of  the blocks and than stitched them to a different coloured block with a 1/4 inch allowance. We did this 3 times on each block and the corner of each block had 3 different colours on it.    Just something a bit different.  It was a very enjoyable day seeing all the different ideas that the ladies came up with.

Rose Embroidery.......

A simple rose embroidered on a white shirt.   The design was from Sew Lucky.  I just needed a design that didn't have too many stitches and wouldn't make the shirt go out of shape.  This design was perfect and it turned a plain white shirt into something quite unique.

Decoupage Chair........

Myself and a friend have been trying out a few different ideas.  One of those ideas was to use  scrap fabric as a decoupage on old furniture.   It is very time comsuming but the effect is quite stunning.  First of all the furniture has to be sanded and painted on the parts that are not going to be covered with fabric, It is then time to glue all the bits of fabric on and then give the fabric pieces a light sand and apply another coat of sealer. A great idea to give some old pieces of furniture a new lease of life.

Mosaic Workshop........

I decided to do something a bit different last week. I have always wanted to do Mosaics and when the workshop was offered I jumped right in,  We did this welcome sign. It was as piece of board already cut and we had to stick the speciality tiles on first. They were so beautiful.  if you take a close look you will see the little houses, hearts, lady bugs, flowers and many more.  We then had other tiles that we had to cut and glue on.  This was very time consuming but well worth it.  After the tiles had dried we then had to do the grouting,.  Very messy but it was fun.  After the grout had dried we then had to wipe the excess off and we were all amazes at how good all the Welcome Signs looked.   I still need to put some grout sealer on.  I now have to make sure that when I hang my sign it is on show for everyone to see. A very enjoyable workshop.

Table Runner......

The start of a table runner that we did at our patchwork group. Done in the colours that I like.  The pattern looks quite complicated but it was really easy. Just the way the blocks are joined.  I have ironed pellon on the back and quilted in the ditch and now I need to bind the edges and it will be finished.   I need two of these so I will have to make another one

Dear Allison Quilt Blocks........

My grandson Matthew is turning 18 in a couple of weeks and I have been thinking of making him a quilt.  I couldn't decide on the style.   When I saw this one from Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery Designs, I knew that was what I was going to do.  It is all done on the embroidery machine and the blocks I am making are 5 x 5 inches.  There is also a 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 sizes.  There is a new design each week.  I have been making two of each design in different colours so that I will get it finished a bit sooner.  Well that's the plan anyway.   I am using cutaway for the stabilizer and then the wadding and the design is done on top.   It can be put together how ever you like, with or without sashing, but I am just going to join the blocks and put a backing on and quilt in the ditch.  There is also going to be some blocks for the border.  I am putting the link here, so well worth looking at her beautiful work.  For everyone in Australia, this lady is from Brisbane............

A Fantastic Idea.......

I always nod off when we are travelling and I saw this fantastic idea of the Seatbelt Pillow on the So Sew Easy Blog.
Very simple and easy to make.  The pillow attaches to the seatbelt by the velcro straps..  I tried it out on the weekend and after tweaking it a bit to get it how I liked it, I found that it stopped my head from falling forward.   It also has a little pocket to hold a phone or ipod.   I  made mine out of a piece of cotton, the instructions said to use fleece, but you could use whatever you have on hand.
The above photo is showing the pillow attached to the seatbelt.......

Rooster Panel............

I loved this Rooster Panel, so decided to make something for my sewing room. The only thing I could think of that showed off the the lovely Rooster was a bag for the back of my sewing chair. I quilted the panel and added ties to the top to tie onto the chair.  I can fill it with sewing supplies and tie the ties together and I am ready to go in a couple of minutes.  When I come home I just tie it to the back of the chair.

Embroidered Motocross Cushions.........

After I made cushions for my Football mad grandsons I thought I had better make some  for my two Motocross mad grandsons.  I loved the way these turned out, I did the embroidery in the colours of the motor bikes that they ride. I put on each cushion the type of bike that they ride and also their registered  motocross number.. .  A keepsake for them as they get older.........

Another Mystery!!!!!!!!

Once again we had a mystery day at our Patchwork Group.  We had to bring 16  4x4 inch squares made up of 2 pieces of 8 different fabrics.
It makes it a bit difficult to pick fabric when you don't know what you are making.
I guess that is why it is a mystery.

Pretty Placemats.......................

Each year our Patchwork Group exchanges a gift at Christmas.  This year we are exchanging placemats.  I decided to get in early and make mine.  This is an awesome design from Sweet Pea Embroidery Designs,   It was actually for a cushion but I thought it would make a wonderful placemat. Now to wrap them and put them away until Christmas.......

Easter Basket..................

An Easter Basket for Cooper.  I bought some baskets in a group buy and wasn't sure of what I would get.  They  are a lot bigger than I thought, Cooper is going to get a lot of Eggs in this Basket....   I don't know why I thought that they would be cotton but they are a plastic type of material with a sort of nylon lining... I was happy with what I got.     I just put in in the hoop with tearaway and hoped for the best.   I had no problems at all.    I thought that the plastic might tear but it didn't.   I still have a couple more left and as the other boys are too big for Easter Baskets I will keep them for when I need to give a gift.   I can fill them with whatever is needed at the time........
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE EASTER

Easter T Shirt

A great design for a boy, I am now finding that there are a lot of designs for older boys and loved this one as soon as I saw it.    It stitched out beautifully but I had a bit of a problem with the hoop on my machine.  I hope I have it sorted now, The design came from So Cute Applique.  You will find lots of  great designs there.   I hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Easter.......... I am looking forward to visiting my grandkids after Easter..........
