Riley's Block

This block is called Riley's Block and I decided to use the stripe fabric in different ways to see how it would turn out.   It turned out rather striking I though.  Not to sure what I will be doing with it, maybe the front of a wheelie walker bag.

Angels

Gorgeous boy Angels, they are so cute. I am making one for each of my family for Christmas this year. I always run out of time towards Christmas so I am starting now so I will have plenty of time.. I am also embroidering names on each angel.  This is a In the Hoop design from Embroidery Garden.  There is a little tea light candle in each one and I decided to use  blue and they really look beautiful with a blue tinge.  The angels are very quick and easy to make. They would also make a great gift for a new baby. I will be making girl angels for all the girls in the family.

Baby Towel ...........

This towel is for a brand new baby boy,  When I was given the towel to embroider I didn't really like the colour for a baby,  but as I worked on it the colour grew on me.  It was like a silver grey and under the lights it had a bit of a shine to it.  Again  I used the washaway stabilizer for the backing and loved that it left no sticky residue...... Not sure where the design came from, just one that I have had for a very long time.    I am trying to use some of the designs that I have rather than buy more but it is very hard as there are some gorgeous designs out there.
Welcome to the world Connor!!!!!!

50th Birthday !!!!!!!!!

I was asked to do a towel for a friends 50th Birthday.  I can't believe that Julie is 50, Time is certainly flying by us.  We worked together many years ago. This design was perfect for her as she loved the odd drop or two. I used a washaway stabilizer on the back and all you have to do is to spray the stabilizer with water and it disappears without leaving any stick residue.  Love that stuff           HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY JULIE

Pretty Purple Coathangers.....

So gorgeous!!!!!  My first attempt at making these coathangers was a bit disastrous as I painted the coathangers with mod podge and then sprinkled them with purple glitter.  It wasn't very successful as the glitter and the glue dripped off, made a mess and left spaces.    After a few days of thinking about this I thought that if I mixed the glitter with the mod podge and painted it on the coathangers it would be an easier alternative.  It did work and it painted on so evenly  and quickly, a much better idea. With this sort of thing you need to work very quickly as the glue dries very quickly.

Christmas T Shirts

This was a free design from Urban Threads and I decided to make Christmas T Shirts for my sisters grandchildren. Another quick and easy design and I thought that green would look good on both girls and boys.  Check out Urban Threads for some awesome designs..

Reaching Squirrel and Monkey.

I have had these designs for some time and decided to do them for my grandsons last Christmas.
Didn't I have trouble finding silky  shorts for the boys, but after a lot of searching I managed to find some.  These designs are from Kris Rhoades and  the boys had a bit of fun with them, and they  Thad a good giggle. The fish is machine applique and the monkey and squirrel are filled embroidery.  Very quick and easy to do.

These gorgeous designs are from Embroidery Library and they stitched out beautifully as well.  Just a couple of quick gifts for friends. I used heat and gone for topping again. I love that stuff, makes life easy.

More Christmas T Shirts.......

These T Shirts are for my youngest grandson, Cooper.    The ( I love Santa ) was from Urban Threads and the Santa with the Kangaroo and Emu is from Punch with Judy.  A great Australian design.  It looks like the hoop moved,  but  it will ok for him to wear out in the yard.  Some places matched up really well and others didn't.   Being a small T Shirt it did get caught on the arm of the embroidery machine so I am guessing that was the problem.    I am going to have another go at this design when I get a bit more time.

Christmas T Shirt.......

This design is from Urban Threads, they always have great designs.  I am always on the look out for designs for bigger boys now as my grandsons are getting past the T Shirt stage that Grandma makes.  This design stitched out perfectly until I changed the cotton for the gold Believin' and I broke 3 needles and the machine wouldn't stitch but with perseverance I managed to get it done.   My brother machine was in getting fixed so I had to use the Singer.  I don't know why I don't use it more as it stitches so nicely........

U. F. O. Finished......for me.

Another project started many years ago and now finished.  It was only something that I worked on when I didn't have another project ready for our sewing day. I did put a bit more effort in the last few months to get it finished.  This is a simple double crochet rug that we started as a project at our Patchwork Group. I was very happy with the way it turned out as I really didn't know how the colours would go.  I just bought the wool as I needed it.  It is very warm. This rug is for me and it will be going in my car just in case I need it.

Fat Quarter Bag.........

I  am loving this bag made from 5 fat quarters.   I don't usually make bags but this one caught my eye.
The 4 fat quarters are cut into 10 1/2 inch by 9 1/2  inch rectangles.  They are all joined together and folded in half and you have the bag  and the lining in one.   On the front half I ironed some iron on pellon.  I quilted the rectangles just from corner to corner. With the 5th fat quarter you make the handles and the binding.  You then bind the top of the bag and the 2 sides.  You fold the bag till you get the shape you like and stitch up where the ends of the bag  meet, making sure you leave enough of the top layer to fold down and sew the button on.   The bottom of the bag is then sewn accross and  about 4 1/2 inches from the bottom corner of the bag, make a triangle and stitch accross to shape the bottom of the bag.   Make the handles and stitch on.   A very quick and easy project. I think I will keep this one as I usually give away the things I make.

Folded Work......

My first attempt at folded work.  I think this one is called a Pineapple. Not sure what I will make out of it. I guess I could make some cushions, placemats or even a table runner.  I used some scraps and managed to get three blocks made but don't have any of the spot left.   I found it fairly easy as you have to follow the pattern markings of how to lay the fabric...  It is something that I would do again, maybe I would try something a bit more difficult.
