FNSI was very special this month as it was for an organization called Conkerr Cancer - Giving sick kids a reason to smile one pillowcase at a time -. I made two pillowcases hoping that they can help to put a smile on a childs face. I would like to thank Handmade by Heidi and Craft Vegas Mom for organising this wonderful challenge.

Something Different !!!
I never thought that I would be making cards. It never interested me. At our last scrapping day we learnt some new techniques in card making. I was really happy with the end product. It was really fun and there is sooo much to learn. Even though my Machine Embroidery is my first love, I do love to dabble in all crafts. In the next couple of days I will be posting something else that I never thought that I would do. I am loving being able to try different types of Craft.

What I did for FNSI !!
This is the inside of the top where the ribbon is tied to the bangle.
I made these cute Towel Hangers last night for FNSI. They will be gifts for family and friends. Before I cut the top out I ironed a light pellon on the back of the fabric. This will give it a bit of shape. The shoulders are to the fold. Add any emblishement before you stitch it together, I used a 21 inch piece of ribbon for the loop and tie, fold it in half and place it so that the hanging loop will be on the outside and the end pieces of ribbon will be on the inside. I just used a bangle from the dollar store and tied it on under the top, that way it can be removed for washing. Put a pretty towel through the bangle and it all done.

Steering Wheel Cover!!!!
Back View
I have been meaning to make a steering wheel cover for ages, so I finally did (now that summer is nearly over.) It is just a circle of prequilted fabric, I made mine 17 inches accross. I embroidered the cat design on the front. Added a backing fabric. On the back I put these other pieces of fabric ( these pieces hold the cover onto the steering wheel.) I made mine at the longest point 61/2 inches. I then put binding all the way around joining the pieces together. The heat here in Queensland makes the steering wheel untouchable atfer the car has been left in the sun. I got this idea from one of the ladies on Cute Embroidery, Thank you for the great idea.

Great Clermont Flood 1916
I have just discovered that my Great Grandmother Elizabeth (O'Keefe) Robbins and her 2 daughters Winnefred 11years and Mona 9 years were drowned in the Great Clermont Flood on 28th December 1916. The photo of the tree trunk above is the memorial to the 65 people who died and for all the lives saved by people hanging onto the trees. The mark on the tree is how high the water rose and this is the corner of the main street. After the flood the town of Clermont was shifted to higher ground. I believe there is a lot of information in the museum but it was closed for refurbishment when I was there, I was told that it took 3 months to move one of the hotels and it never lost one day of trading. Guests stayed there overnight and all the meals where provided. I would love to hear from anyone with information on Elizabeth (O'Keefe, O'Keeffe) Robbins (Robins), her parents where Johanna Fair Purdie and Richard Parsons, husband William Robbins ans son William Patrick Robins who married Emily Jessie Parsons at Clermont on 30th May 1922. I think that Elizabeth's family may have come from Ireland. Please ask about your family members before it is too late !!!!!!

Wheelie Walker Bag for FNSI
This will be the back

This year we are making Wheelie Walker Bags for the Retirement Centre instead of swapping gifts at Christmas. We are also doing this in July as by the end of the year everyone is sooo busy. I have chosen something bright and cheerfull, hopefully it will brighten someones day. I will also be making one for a male as well. I have quilted the panels with wadding and backing and have made them into squares, now all I have to do is the binding and the ties. I was hoping to get it finished for FNSI but it didn't quite work out the way I had planned.

Cushions for Bella !!!
My sister was delighted when her son presened her with a beautiful grandaughter Bella 2 years ago. They live in different states in Australia so she doesn't get to visit as much as she would like. Last christmas she went out and bought a lot of pretty dresses with net underlays and all the things she thought that a little girl woud like. My sister was very dissapointed to find out that Bella will only wear shorts with horses on them!!!!!. I found this cushion panel in my stash so I make two cushions for Bella. I had the blue check and a couple of zips. I am happy again to be able to make something and not have to buy anything. I am sure Bella will love the cushions.
